Top Ten Tuesday is an original feature/weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish.
These are not listed in any significant order -- just listing what books come to mind.
1. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins.
2. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K.Rowling.
3. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher
4. New Moon by Stephenie Meyer
5. A Child Called It by Dave Pelzer
6. The Everafter by Amy Huntley
7. The Gemma Doyle (1-3) series by Libba Bray
8. The Giver by Lois Lowry
9. Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
10. Black Beauty by Anna Sewell
All of Pelzer's books are downers, but especially that first. Hard to contemplate how a mother and a family could be so twisted.
ReplyDeleteI know. And I read it when I was in junior high too - because it was just so intriguing. I know people whose families are not any where near as twisted, but still are really really dysfunctional and bizarre. And it's sad to realize that this type of situation still continues to crop up and happen to some children.
ReplyDeleteI cried my eyes out in Thirteen Reasons Why. Good, cry-worthy list.

I completely agree with 2, 7, 8 , 9 and 10. I have Thirteen Reasons Why on my TBR - I want to read it soon.
ReplyDeleteI have not finished Mockingjay yet. I don't like that I might be crying at the end! :)
ReplyDeleteBlack Beauty-how I cried! And I remember how my daughter sobbed when she finished Tuck Everlasting.
ReplyDeleteLove your list! I got choked up in New Moon, but didn't cry until Breaking Dawn!

Oh my Gosh! I cried and cried reading A Child Called It!
ReplyDeleteOmg, the chapter in the forest at the end of Deathly Hallows? I BAWL every time I read it. I'm praying they do it justice in the movie.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I'm thinking pretty much everything makes me cry these days! But the first one that I remember really crying over was Where the Red Fern Grows. Sheesh, heart wrenching. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI don't even know if I could read A Child Called It. I always cry when the stories are true. Zeitoun was a real tearjerker for me.
ReplyDeleteHere is my list
i've only read about half of these books, but i gotta say the only one that actually made me said was "new moon" and i never cried. i must be a tough cookie.i don't think i could actually think of a list of books that made me cry.though i have cried during some book, i just can't remember what it was. this is kinda irrelevant...
ReplyDeletei like your blog though.
