"What do you consider the most important in a story: the plot or the characters?"
A very difficult question - since I think that both are necessary to make a story interesting and successful. But deciding between them, I would have to say the plot is more important than the characters in a story (in most scenarios/stories) since that is what drives and makes the story. Sometimes I can overlook and ignore a badly written/defined or annoying character, but if the plot doesn't pull me in or grab my interest, than it's just not a good story - in my opinion.
Just popping in via the hop to say hi! I agree, both are so important but I'm a character girl mostly, I have to get involved with them or I can't connect with the story as thoroughly. Definitely a tricky question though! I'm a new follower here and we seem to have similar paranormal tastes, so I'm glad to have found your blog. Have a great weekend!

HI, New follower here. I agree usually if the plot doesn't get me by the third chapter - pretty lenient then I stop . But I love characters - mainly ones I can relate too , not the model type women but normal everyday women and a sarcastic sense of humor gets me everytime.

I'm kind of the opposite. I'm more of a character girl than a plot girl, but I still love a good plot. Thanks for stopping by! I'm glad you enjoy my blog. Hope you have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for visiting! :)
ReplyDeleteI've seen many people say they prefer characters over plot. You're one of the few who likes plot a bit more, like me! :D
Happy HOP! This week's question wasn't so simple to answer but ultimately it was characters for me. That's where I make my connection to the story. I'm a new follower.

I did not go to college, and I am currently retired. I worked for over 15 years in the secretarial division of Emery Air Freight in the 1960s and 1970s. I was a stay-at-home mom for the 1980s and 1990s, and now I am helping my daughter with her business, Tribute Books as the volunteer office manager.
ReplyDeleteHopping by to say happy Friday! I can totally relate to using reading as an escape. I definitely read more when I am avoiding something or stressed...
ReplyDeleteNew follower, btw.
Happy hopping!
